Viupax revolutionary shoe packaging, designed by Andreas Kioroglou, founder of the Greece based design studio Matadog Design. After two years of designing, researching and testing, the ultimate sustainability shoe packaging has been developed, as it incorporates a number of innovative features. It’s designed to be more sustainable and cost effective compared to traditional shoe boxes by using much less cardboard and less volume.

It uses 20-57% less material and occupies 20-50% less volume.

It is designed to be cost efficient in matters of production and transportation and above all designed in such a way to improve personnel productivity and user experience. It is designed to be flexible in stacking allowing them to be stored in many new and interesting ways. It eliminates the use of bag as it can be converted into a carry bag or shoulder bag to be easily transported by the customer.

The biodynamic Amaltea wine. “Within the practice of biodynamic farming, Loxarel integrates herds of goats in controlling weeds in the vineyard. Amaltea, represented by the goat nymph who nursed the god Zeus, according to Greek mythology associated with fertile land and abundance. The concepts of the goat, the horn (the main element of the preparation 500), and the constellations are the basis of biodynamic agriculture and the characteristic of this young coupage.”

Developed in collaboration with Commune Design and handmade by Valerie Confections. The packaging, a simple cardboard box, grew from the idea of the chocolates as actual tiles. Fortuitously, the box selected holds 49 pieces of the chocolate, the result of squaring a prime number, 7. Swear Words made this design for Green Eggs; “For the Greens, freshness and quality are the most important things, along with environmental sustainability and the happiness and welfare of their hens. Green Eggs are for people who share these values and want to supply the best products to their homes and customers, whilst supporting regional Victorian food producers. We were asked to re-brand and package Green Eggs to communicate these values, and to have some fun in the process. Smart Package from Le Creuset. For the mini cocottes – super-easy to flatten. A magnet keeps the package closed. It’s quite a premium package, their intention is probably that people should re-use the package…good intention, but my believe is that people don’t need more stuff in their houses…..make packages lean and easy to throw away…..A simpler package, meaning less material, with the very same construction would be great. Convenient for the consumer, flatten it in 2 seconds – ready to dispose of.

Kellogg Co. is driving a six-month test in Detroit of a space-saving box which offers the same amount of food, but with less packaging. “The new test boxes will fit more easily into consumers’ pantries, and the new compact packaging also allows for more efficient use of retail space and enables retailers to offer a wider variety of products,” says Kim Miller, vice president, Morning Foods Marketing, Kellogg Co. “The test of this new space-saving packaging is part of our ongoing commitment to identify solutions that help us meet the needs of our retail partners and consumers.”

Little Bug, founded in 2006, is a baby food producer in California. They are only using local, seasonal and organic ingredients. In the packaging development they were looking into safety, environmental impact and freezer functionality. They first tried out a biodegradable material, but realized quite soon that it will crack and shatter in the freezer. They checked paper, but it would leak meanwhile glass would be too heavy in transportation. So after all the decision was PP, a number 5 recyclable plastic. The outer box is made of paper.
