Designed by Unelefante, Mexico. “Before founding Unelefante, I designed and produced jewelry and other fashion accessories for over ten years, so I know for sure a few things. Most people are not willing to take risks when buying a product, specially if it’s a gift, so, why not turn an ordinary something into a very unique experience. This is our main principle. Having this knowledge on hand and my passion for art and anything with an eye-catching harmony were catalysts when designing the Pollock bar and packaging. We change the colors to create new harmonies and to differentiate product lots. Also, labeling products can be hideous, specially if it’s by hand and you have hundreds of pieces in front of you, but it’s very fun to label the Pollock bars, labels are glued depending on were you have a better visual of the pattern created with the paint splashes. It’s relaxing.”

Marou Chocolate Treasure

Nice chocolate packaging, designed by Rice Creative, Vietnam. “Marou Chocolate hand selected the finest cacao beans grown on small family-owned farms on the remote island of Tan Phu Dong (Đảo Kho Báu), stretching from the two northernmost arms of the Mekong Delta all the way into the sea. This is a truly the rarest of rare chocolate.

Production numbers are low due to the availability of this precious cacao. Rice Creative’s approach to the packaging was to maintain the primary elements of the brand, but introduce a different, more adventurous graphic language, with a vintage map of the area, and drawn calligraphy. We hoped to convey the spirit of discovery and rarity.”

Simply Chocolate is based in Copenhagen. “Up here it’s too cold to grow cocoa beans. But it´s hot enough to have a love affair with great chocolate. Copenhagen is a very old city with a highly vibrating pulse and plenty of room to nurture a new kind of chocolate. Since we began in 2011, a lot of people have shared our desire. Not just for what we do, but apparently also for how we do it. We appreciate that.

Simply Chocolate only uses the finest raw chocolate on the market and the best natural ingredients. We use the best of nuts, grains and berries. Like almonds, hazelnuts, and pecans. Spelt flakes and oatmeal. And, finally, cranberries, goji berries, coconut, bluberries, you name it. On top of that, we spice it up with liquorice, vanilla, cinnamon, chili, ginger and other wonders of nature.”

Marou Faiseurs de Chocolat, based in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), was founded less than a year ago by two adventurous Frenchmen. Rice Creative got the mission to build the brand’s visual identity and packaging. “Inspired by Marou’s unique story, we sought to develop an identity and packaging system with the right mixture of modernity and tradition. After much deliberation, we found the simplest way to create a system for the bars was to name each bar after the province where it’s beans originated, and ascribe a natural colour-shift. To highlight the hand-made, artisanal quality of the chocolate itself, we commissioned a local printing shop to use the traditional silk-screen printing techniques to hand print the design in antique gold ink on each wrapper. The finished packaging is then given to Marou who then hand wrap the chocolate bars.” Via Packaging World

The design response was to create something artisan, hand crafted and most importantly, real, to reflect the product itself. The result being a range of products each with its own individual type execution and colourway printed on 100% recycled card.”

Eguale Chocolate

Happy F&B designed a package collection for Eguale “Tropical birds bearing tropical raw materials: every package tells a little story of its own about the product, the bird, and their origins. Take, for example, the Bolivian umbrella bird with a cocoa bean in its beak, or the Chinese velvet-fronted nuthatch carrying a raspberry. These are organic, fair trade products with a focus on…

Relanghe – Torrone

I love the idea of removing material instead of adding. Like Italian Relanghe has made with the text on this package. Especially nice on the yellow package whit dark chocolate facing the front, gives a clear contrast. It’s all made of paper, with a nice, natural textured surface.

What drew my attention most of all is the plain brown paper they wrap the chocolate chips in, back to basic!
